Friday Flower

Today I join Laura from ‘A place for tea’ for her
new weekly serie,
A Friday Flower.
I love flowers, to give to someone or to buy for our house.
Coming from the Netherlands, or as I like to say,
Flower Country,
it’s something I grew up with.
This picture is very international…
A green carnation from Holland (the Dutch truck delivers flowers here every week)
A vintage bottle from a Swiss thriftstore (here they call it Brockenhaus)
A vintage big plate, with a Dutch windmill, found at a Belgian fleamarket
Sitting on my Swiss kitchen countertop.
Back in the days,
when shopping for flowers was something normal as putting socks on in the winter,
I never realized how special it actually is.
To be able to have a choice between so many sorts of flowers,
each and every time of the year. I was spoiled and never really knew it!
My flower for today is a carnation.
It’s an old fashion flower but I think it has style.
And as we all know,
style never goes out of fashion!
So I give this flower to all the people
who take the time to read my blog!
Especially the ones who told me that they do so on a daily basis,
like Anuschka, Naomi, Patricia, Marian and my Sweetheart!
Thank You Mucho Mucho!
Thank you Laura for starting a Friday Flower!
If you haven’t met Laura, go say Hi, she has tea waiting for you!
Have a good Friday everyone!
Maureen
xx

Maureen, carnations are my daughter’s favorite flower. Especially the pink ones. Lovely photo, and I always adore Dutch plates with windmills on them.
    Have a wonderful Friday!

I will join you. I must be thinking about it subliminally because I added a few flowers to my blog today just because. I too follow your blog every day, as well as Laura’s. You are two of my favorites! I will have to credit you on my blog!

Good morning…..at first glance I thought your flower was a hydrangea. Oh this old eyesight…..beautiful carnation. I’ll pop over to see Laura as well.

    Hi Maureen,

I love carnations and remember my Mother actually growing them, pretty pink and they had a fragrance. I think a lot of the new variety do not have the scent.
    The windmill plate is lovely.

    Happy weekend

    Great picture!

And I always loved that about Holland, the flowers are so lovely and so cheap! If I’m ever to live there I’ll get a fresh bouquet every week :)
