Third time is a charm…

The new year is almost upon us…
People are making promises to change or better their lives….
Wishing for things, health or good fortune…
Well, let me tell you a wish of my own….

*I want to be better at handling a sewing machine *

so….
I will start (my third) sewing class in March 2011.

I failed twice in other classes years ago,
so to actually make something would be a little triumph!
{although I am creative, I’m challenged when it comes to sewing}
{or cooking…}

Now here are two things in that one sentence that I normally don’t do:
1) I suck at something (sewing), yet I do it again.
 {my normal reaction:  I don’t like it, I will not attend to it, ever again.
Been there, done that is more my motto}.
2) Planning months ahead for something.
{even to book a holiday is a go-with-the-flow action for me}.
So why am I doing this now? Why do I wish to handle a sewing machine?
And I know the machine and I are no friends…. yet….  BIG sigh…..
So is this part of a ‘now you are 40′ thing?
Like a side-effect when you take medicine,
and the small letters on the bottom are saying
“not to use when….”

Mmmh, maybe I finally will learn how to try and try (and try) again,
without walking away from it….

Anyway,
if you have any resolutions planned for 2011,
I wish you all the best with it!

{we’ll talk again in March how it went….}

Have a good Wednesday!

Maureen

    I wish you good luck with your sewing lessons Maureen and hope they’ll be successful. I usually start things like that, but somehow it always peters out. Not good!!

    Oh, Maureen, when you work it out, can you show me?! I would love to learn to sew but don’t have the time, inclination or money to do so at the moment. I look forward to following how you go! J x

    Hi Maureen… I’ve just picked up sewing and I’m addicted… unfortunately my talent does not stretch as far as I would like it to, but I’ll just keep on trying… a bit like learning to ride a bike. As for New Years Resolutions… not sure yet, but I feel that 2011 is going to be a big turning point for me… Lx

    I hated sewing for a long time, and then realized I actually just hated my sewing machine because the thread kept breaking. Then I got a new machine for Christmas year and I couldn’t stop!! I fell so in love with sewing that I made children’s clothing for the last 4 years as a business (just closed it when we moved to the UK).

    I hope you fall in love with sewing like I did – it gave me such confidence that I could make so many things. And like you, I haven’t taken to cooking in the kitchen (yawn). Happy weekend, XO Laura

    That’s pretty organised getting a class for next March – I’m impressed. Maybe I should think about the same thing…I bought myself a sewing machine this year and have only just managed to finish some bunting and a nightdress for my little girl. x

    Hi Maureen, sewing is something I never learned either. By hand or otherwise. Why my mother didn’t teach me, I don’t know. did she try and I wasn’t interested? I’ll have to ask her. I learned to cross-stitch from a lady I worked for in high school who had a preschool set up in her garage. I learned to crochet from my cousin. A lady I worked with in the late 80’s tried to teach me to use a sewing machine. Let’s just say, I had a lead foot, and she finished the log cabin pillow for me because I couldn’t control the pedal on the machine. Ha! Now you know how I drive. :) wishing you all the best as you endeavor to learn to sew and perservere no matter what. Have a great day. Tammy
