The A from …

Today
 I wanted to talk about 3 random, nothing-to-do-with-each-other-subjects.
{only thing they have in common is the first letter}.
So, let’s start with the A from……

* Amsterdam *
As you all know, this is our hometown, the town where I lived for 31 years.
Ok, this really sounds old, I can count back from a number that
starts with a 3… sigh…
I will do a total post one day about the city of my heart, but not just now.
{I know that Shalyn from ‘Laugh until your cheeks hurt’, would like that, she wants to visit Amsterdam some day}. So for now just some pictures to give you an idea how cold it was the day before Christmas.

* Awards *

My fellow Amsterdam girl Maaike from creJJtion gave me the
Stylish Blogger Award!
Not only am I honoured that she gave me this,
she also wrote very kind words about my blog.
And, like a real Amsterdam girl, she made her own rule about passing on this award
 (she passed it along to 3 people instead of 15).
Thank you Maaike for thinking of me!
If you are not familiar with her blog, hop and skip to Maaike.
She writes in English, but if you want, you can greet her in Dutch:
Hallo (that’s easy, means Hello)
To say Goodbye, just write Tot Ziens!
With the award I have to tell 7 things about myself.
For the people who are new reading my blog,
you can read more about moi in Questions and Answers.
So if you still are interested in more Maureen stuff, here goes:
One
I wish I could sing
not like a cat, but more like Whitney Houston
(before she met Bobby….)
Two
I’m a fan of Oprah Winfrey
Total inspiration…
Three
I really would love to go to Australia
my first time!
Four
And to Bali again
my second time!
Five
I used to do and teach baton twirling
fun times!
Six
I just got a second tattoo
and acted like a big baby…

Seven
I did something for the very first time
No, not that….
Want to know what it was?
* Apple pie *

Yes, I did it! I made my very first apple pie!
{with help from my brother in law Xander, Thanks again!}
Now some of you will raise their eyebrows and think ‘what’s all the fuss about a pie?’
But to me, and the people who know me will nod their head in agreement,
this is a big achievement.
Remember the heart I bought from Erna saying “I kiss better than I cook”?
So for me this was super-di-duper!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend my friends!
Maureen
xx

    Wow, that is some ice! Miss my regular Oprah – love her. I told my husband that I’d love to live in Australia next- and love to visit tropical Bali. I have 1 tatoo and used to be a cheerleader – practically twins, right?! What is your second tattoo of?

    Loved reading this about you- I love Oprah too, and like Amsterdam, want to visit Australia! Thanks so much for letting me know you tagged me and sharing these pictures. I am in awe over the wooden shoes and ice! One day when I go (hopefully soon:-)) maybe I could email you and pick your brain about where to visit?! Congrats on your award, Maureen! Wow, I can’t believe the icicles. They look amazing… as does your pie! The first of many… with baking you just have to keep trying it out… sometimes it works out others not, but as long as you’re having a go! Take care sweet Maureen. Lx
