People always asked her where she was going.

Not fully knowing herself, she answered with a smile...

"I'm going in the right direction..."

How to start an interesting About page? what to mention and what to leave out?

Let’s start with Hello and Welcome!

I'm Maureen - a globetrotting mama, wife, the writer and photographer behind this blog. I’m living an international lifestyle with my two girls - Noa and Zoe & my husband Daniel and our dog Marlow. We have been living abroad for the last 18 years - moving from our home in Amsterdam to Houston, back to The Netherlands, to Switzerland and Dubai. Halfway in 2015 we decided to change our lives even more and we travelled for 8 months around the world - without knowing where we would end up living.... yep.... With our two girls and only four bag packs we choose adventure over certainty. It’s never boring here, for sure.

After our family adventure, we decided to move to New York City (still with only those four bag packs) and we fell in love. More precisely, our hearts fell for Brooklyn, where we found our first top floor apartment in an old brownstone building which we named the wonky house, #lifeinthewonkybrooklynhouse. And we found our second apartment two streets away #homenr10 - since it was the tenth home we lived in as a family. You can read more about our story in this interview.

I document most of my New York wanderings under the hashtag #MaureenwandersinNYC - Let's explore the city together when I’m back.

Now we are on another journey again. After two amazing years in New York - where we will be back for work - we have settled in the seaside city of Brighton in the UK. I’m documenting this quirky and friendly city by the sea under #MaureenwandersinBrighton.

Ten months after arriving, I started organizing Female Creative Meetups. I had this small idea of bringing women together for a long time - and even though the Moksi Collective community has just started, we are growing and I love seeing my dreams taking shape.

There’s always a season in life that will be very different or harder, but the season I’m in right now is a good one. I’ve created a triangle of living and working between New York City - Amsterdam & Brighton, which wasn’t easy (still isn’t) but very worth it. So yes, life has taken us on many rollercoasters, but we are happy to be much closer to our family, old friends and our own home near Amsterdam.

I hope you will join me and read along, while I explore this season in life.

Thanks for being here!
